Natural Disaster and School Profile:

On 25 April 2015, a 7.8 magnitude earthquake struck Nepal near the capital Kathmandu, the worst in more than 80 years. Sadly, more than 9 000 people lost their lives, 23 000 others were injured and there was widespread destruction of homes and infrastructure. More than 5 000 schools were damaged or completely destroyed as a result of the earthquake. On 12 May 2015, a second earthquake measuring 7.3 on the Richter scale struck the country, causing further devastation and loss of life.

Together, we're going to rebuild one of these schools! We will be involved in the construction and finishing work on a school called Shree Bhanubhakta Secondary School. Due to the extent of damage to the original school buildings, two brand new buildings had to be built from the ground up to rebuild the school. This school will serve more than 250 children and is located in Tinkuna village, in Sindhuli district (Bagmati province) southeast of Kathmandu.

What you need to have to volunteer at the working site:

  • Sturdy work boots (above the ankles)

  • Headgear

  • Water bottle

  • Construction clothing (including waterproofs)

  • Repellent, sunscreen

Travel, accommodation and travel costs, including any extras in Nepal, are the responsibility of each member of the expedition individually.

Thank you for helping us change the world for the better!

Namasté

Thank you for your willingness to help
